Mission:
To
increase awareness of Orthodoxy by making books and other resources about
Orthodox Christian Faith, Life and Worship as widely available as possible
at the lowest possible cost. We seek to do this in a manner that is
consistent with the professional standards of the wider book trade whilst
never losing sight of the goal to promote a wider awareness of Orthodox
Christian teaching and experience.
OCBL supplies shops, churches, libraries and other institutions as well as
the general public. We attend trade fairs, exhibitions and conferences
throughout the year to promote understanding of Orthodox Christianity and to
highlight some of the specific books etc. that are available.
OCBL is a privately owned company whose shareholders are members of some of
the different national Orthodox Churches represented in the United Kingdom.
The Managing Director reports to the Board of Directors (see staff gallery).
OCBL operates from a 2500 sq ft warehouse building on the outskirts of
Newcastle-under-Lyme, approximately half way between Birmingham and
Manchester. We do not operate a walk in retail shop but rather supply books
etc., through hundreds of shops in the UK and abroad as well as by mail
order and via our web site.
